Made in Italy, this limited-edition limo combines coach-building with off-roading.
Italian coachbuilding company Aznom has debuted its latest vehicle, the Palladium – a V8-powered, 4×4-friendly luxury limousine that looks like the love child of a Rolls-Royce and a Ram 1500.
Described as a “hyper limousine”, the Palladium is almost 6 metres long and 2 metres tall and takes its design philosophy and name from Italian architect Andrea Palladio, who was known for his opulent Greek and Roman mansions.
The Palladium is a successor to Aznom’s Atulux, a $300,000 luxury car Aznom created in 2018 that was based on a Ram 1500 pick-up.
Aznom founder Marcello Meregalli said the success of the Atulux inspired him to create an even more luxurious vehicle, “a car completely manufactured by us both outside and inside” – thus, the Palladium was born.
Under the bonnet is a specially tuned 5.7-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, capable of producing roughly 530kW and 950Nm, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Aznom claims the top speed is 210km/h and the Palladium completes the 0-100km/h dart in 4.5 seconds.
On request, a mild-hybrid system can be fitted to the car and Aznom claims the powertrain can function with four cylinders only in certain conditions in order to save fuel.
By default, the Palladium operates in rear-wheel drive when it’s first started but can be switched to four-wheel drive through mode selection, with the option of using an electronic automatic differential lock, or a manual differential lock.
Mr Meregalli said the plan is to create 10 units of the Palladium at first, each of them tailor-made at the company’s headquarters in Monza, Italy, according to client customisation requests.
“I can say today that we pushed that idea even further, conceiving a vehicle that can take its owner wherever, to an elegant soiree as well as on a demanding off-road course. It is a true extra-luxurious limousine that is also able to trek the desert! This is why our Palladium is so unique,” he explained.
Made from high-resistance steel and boasting 22-inch wheels, the Palladium’s interior, including the ceiling, is finished in Foglizzo leather and features an on-board refrigerator and a handmade gold-and-palladium clock.
It also gets the requisite safety and driver assistance technology, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, park assist, advanced brake assist and 360-degree view cameras.
Pricing and exact launch timing for the Palladium is yet to be announced, but Mr Meregalli said the company is looking to target customers in the USA, Middle East, Russia and China.
